VBCA Newsletter - February 2007
Some important events are coming up in the next couple of months of which your support will be appreciated.
Don't forget that if you are a part of the Championships training squad and don’t make selection in the Victorian squad, you may still be able to register interest in going into a player pool to play the championships for another state, thus qualifying for international selection for any series which may be scheduled over the next couple of years.
SOCIAL MATCH
A social game is to be held on Sunday 11th February, 2007 between the Rotaract Club of Clayton which Dean Calder is a member, and a side from the V.B.C.A.
The day is open to all V.B.C.A. members to attend as the proceeds from the event will be shared between the Rotaract Club and V.B.C.A.
As this is a Championship year, we will be expecting fundraisers such as this day to be well supported whether you are playing, or just there as a spectator.
The Rotaract club will be supplying meat etc. for a barbecue lunch, and there will be off-field activities for all ages, along with what we hope to be an entertaining game of cricket.
There are also two games coming up in March, firstly a game between Toska’s Niddrie Safeway staff, and a V.B.C.A. team, which will be held on Saturday 24th March, 2007 and a game between Victoria and A.C.T. to be held in Albury on Saturday 31st March, 2007.
It is proposed that our team will be made up of those who are in the Championship squad, so please let Nick know as soon as possible if you are able to go to Albury.
Our team will travel to Albury by train on Friday evening March 30th, and returning on Sunday April 1st.
Accurate numbers are required as soon as possible for the booking of accommodation, and to ensure we have a full and competitive side for this game.
The Executive of the V.B.C.A. would like those who are a part of the training squad, and in fact who are selected to play Championship cricket to support as many social activities as possible over the next two seasons as, like every championship, we can only raise money to subsidise your trip if you assist with fundraising activities at least with a donation of time.
PRESENTATION NIGHT
Due to our inability to attract in excess of 100 people for our presentation nights, we are unable to hold them at Hawthorn Receptions anymore, so this year it has been decided to hold Presentation night at the Vision Australia function room at 454 Glenferrie Road Kooyong.
Tickets will be $35.00 per head, which will cover the cost of the meal, and music etc.
Arrangements have been made to have a limited bar service with alcohol costing $2.00 per drink across the board, with beer, wine and some spirits available, and a range of soft drink at $1.00 per can.
There will also be a major raffle conducted in the lead up to presentation night, and tickets will be sold on the night.
Music for the evening will be provided by Justin Smit’s disco.
We want as many people as possible to support and attend presentation night, remember it is our one big celebration of individual achievement for the year.
There will be further newsletters to come over the next couple of weeks, so keep an eye out for them, and remember that not all your club members have email, so please make sure this is passed on to those people as well.
Catch you next edition.
