VBCA Newsletter - June-July 2007

Hello All,

This will be a short newsletter, mainly dealing with a couple of reminders as there has been little activity from the organisation viewpoint, however, I know that some clubs have held their AGM’s and others are about to hold theirs.

We would like to take this opportunity to wish Manny T an enjoyable trip to Greece in August/September. I am sure he will have an absolute ball.

A couple of quick reminders:

Firstly, there will be a meeting of the V.B.C.A. Board this Saturday July 14th which will be open to all members, in part to call for nominations for the position of Secretary, Vice President and 6th Executive.

Please remember that although it is not stated in the V.B.C.A. Constitution, it is good manners to ask anybody you are considering for positions to see that they will be prepared to accept their nomination and that they are prepared to stand for two years.

The board meeting will commence at 1.00pm at the Charlie Bradley Pavilion, and I have obtained additional heating for the pavilion.

Following the meeting at around 4PM, our reunion of players and officials, past and present will be held, and at this stage, there will be around 80 people attending, although it is a little disappointing to see that the reunion has not been better supported by current members.

The cost of the evening is $10.00 per head for adults which covers a spit roast meal which will be served in the Vision Australia Day Centre at 6.30pm.

The Annual General Meeting will be held on Saturday August 12th at 11.00am with a barbecue lunch available afterward at the Charlie Bradley Pavilion.

We will be electing the three above board positions at this meeting so please attend the AGM and support your preferred candidates, and your board.

COME AND TRY DAY

We are about to commence running a Community Service Announcement on Vision Australia Radio, as well as distributing brochures to around 750 government schools throughout Melbourne and provincial cities in a full on attempt to promote Blind Cricket and obtain new players.

We would appreciate if all clubs could ensure that a few representatives are available on that day to assist with any new players we may have wishing to try the game.

Saturday September 1st will also be the day clubs are required to lodge player registrations so a board meeting will be held at the Charlie Bradley Pavilion at 10.30am on that day.

I look forward to seeing you on July 14th for the board meeting and the reunion afterward.
