Round 9 - Institute B.C.C. v Glenferrie B.C.C. - Day 2

Glenferrie, needing outright victory to have any chance of finishing top of the 2006/07 ladder, resumed at 4-51. Ty Atkinson batted well to score 42 as the rest of Glenferrie batting line-up slumped. Kingsley Williams provided some resistance at the tail end and made 16 before he was adjudged LBW. The Lions were all-out for 133 after 36 overs.

Tony Montesanti continued his excellent bowling form taking 2/34 (10).

Institute opened their 2nd innings in a strong fashion with Matt Horsey getting a quick 40. The Institute batsmen then closed shop to prevent Glenferrie getting any chance of outright points. Play ended at about 5pm when St. Paul's achieved an outright victory on Ground 2. Institute ended the innings on 3-90.

Glenferrie claimed 4 points for a 1st innings win and ended the season on 36 points.

Round 9 - Burwood B.C.C. v St. Paul's B.C.C. - Day 2

Burwood resumed their 1st innings 4-30 and requiring 62 runs for 1st innings points. Burwood was unable to add many runs and ended their 1st innings all-out for 50. Chris Baille top scored on 15.

St. Paul's commenced it's 2nd innings. The batting side lost wickets attempting to score quickly, the score 2-22 after 5 overs. Paul Ravenarki was caught by Brenden Fox off the bowling of David Gauci for 5. St. Paul's declared at 2-22 in search of outright victory.

With nothing to loose Burwood went about chasing 65 runs to claim 6 points. At the same time St. Paul's was set on bowling Burwood out to secure top spot on the ladder. Burwood was eventually all-out for 48 with about 1 over to spare. St. Paul's claimed 10 points and finished on top of the ladder with 44 points.

Round 9 - Burwood B.C.C. v St. Paul's B.C.C. - Day 1

Goodman won the toss for Burwood and elected to field in very humid conditions. Straz and Lindsay Heaven opened in a conservative fashion and had put 20 runs on the board in105 overs when Straz, who had been the more aggressive, attempted to cut a wide ball from Amy Baille and played it onto his stumps.

With key St. Paul's players Rav, Brett Wilson and David Steeds all absent due to a wedding, Lindsay's inning's was all about preservation. Lindsay went onto to reach 40 and after 45.1 overs St. Paul's was all out for 92 including 23 extras.

Brian Talbot turned in a sustained spell of very economical bowling to return 1/16 from 9.1 overs and David Goodman continued his good form with 2/7 (8). Amy Baille also bowled very well contributing 2/24 (9).

With about 90 minutes left in the day, David Gauci and Sophia Seng opened the batting for Burwood. After surviving a close LBW decision Gauci added a few more runs before he was bowled by Heaven for 6. Seng was happy to get a run on the board but was bowled by Tim Mitchell for 1. Colin Begg followed shortly when he was also bowled by Heaven for 1. Brian Talbot was a victim of the Straz when he was bowled for 1. At stumps Burwood is 4/30.

Of the three bowlers used by St. Paul's, Heaven made a good return with 2/8 (3) and Tim Mitchell took 1/6, whilst Straz (1/4) also toiled well.

With Ground 2 very dry and fast, a target of 92, is very achievable for Burwood and they will be keen to put a dent in St. Paul's finals preparations.

Round 9 - Institute B.C.C. v Glenferrie B.C.C. - Day 1

Glenferrie won the toss and elected to field on a dry and fast Ground 1.

Glenferrie had the Institute batsman well contained as Matt Horsey was dismissed on 8 when he was bowled by Ty Atkinson. Institute seemed to loose all confidence and Rin Pas provided the only resistance scoring 7 before he was bowled by Dean Calder. The remainder of the Institute batsmen collapsed and were all out for 47. Included in this score were 33 extras.

Ty Atkinson was excellent with 1-3 (5), while Tongalea put in a fine performance with 1-5 (5).

Glenferrie opened their batting and at the end of the day ended on 4/51 and already securing a first innings victory.
